Cadenhead's North British Grain 19 Years Old

North British Distillery is a grain distillery. The North British Distillery is hidden away not far from the center of Edinburgh City. The distillery has been around since 1888 and has seen Edinburgh grow up around it. The distillery is right next to the Hearts of Midlothian Football Club. The distillery has three Gigantic Coffey stills. The stills produce 10,000 litres of alcohol per hour, which is just less than 10 bottles per second!! They produce 70 million litres of spirit a year. To produce that amount of spirit the distillery uses about 110 tons of green malt and 428 tons of cereal a day. Unlike other grain distilleries North British use maize instead of wheat for their cereal. This gives them a higher yield. If you ever get a chance to see a grain distillery it is a must!! It is amazing to see how big the Coffey stills are.
