The Macallan 1861 has been created as a replica of an original Macallan, distilled in 1861 and bottled , labels nose and flavour of the whisky mirror the original as closely as possible. It was during the mid to late 19th century that John McWilliam of Craigellachie built his reputation as a purveyor of fine wines and whiskies. Sound testament to this are his bespoke bottling’s of The Macallan - a practice he carried on until the 1890's Using a sample drawn from an original bottle - just enough for the Whisky Maker, Bob Dalgarno, to nose and create a replica of this unique bottling - it recalls The Macallan of that era. |
