Single malt whisky is a whisky made at one particular distillery from a mash that uses one particular malted grain, which is ordinarily barley. Single malts are typically associated with Scotland, though they are also produced in various other countries. Under the Scotch Whisky Regulations, a "Single Malt Scotch Whisky" must be made exclusively from malted barley and must be distilled using a pot still and must be aged for at least three years in oak casks of a capacity not exceeding 700 liters. Linkwood Distillery, situated outside of Elgin, is little known as a single malt whisky due to the vast majority of its output going to blenders. It is a prized malt by blenders though who recognize it for being a consistently good quality malt whisky.

Harvested in 2006 and distilled in 2007, the grain for this iconic whisky was grown for Bruichladdich in the Ministerís Field at Rockside Farm by Mark and Rohaise French. Aged for 6 years in oaks casks and Bottled in 2013.
