The Ardmore distillery was founded in 1898 and is located at the edge of the Grampian Mountains. It was built by Adam Teacher, son of William Teacher. Ardmore was one of the last distilleries to stop direct coal firing their 8 stills. The direct coal firing process stopped here between 2001 and 2012. Most of the whisky that is produced at Ardmore distillery is reserved for Teacherís blends. The Teacherís blends are said to find their malty characteristics from the Ardmore spirit. Ardmore single malt bottlings are very rare and are not found very often. The distillery gets its water from 14 sources on Knockandy Hill. Ardmore has 8 stills, 4 wash stills and 4 spirit stills. The distillery has a capacity of around 5,200,000 litres. Currently owned by Beam Global. House Style: Malty, creamy, robust. After dinner.
