Deanston
Deanston is a picturesque distillery in a little village near Stirling called Doune. Deanston was originally a cotton mill. It was transformed into a distillery in the 1960‘s. It sits on the River Teith and is very near Doune castle which is famous for being the castle where the Monty Python and the Holy Grail were filmed. Deanston is a Green distillery due to the water turbines that they have. They use about 25% of the power they create and the rest goes back into the national grid. In 2000 the film “The Angels Share’ filmed a portion of the film there. The current owners of the distillery are, Burn Stewart Distillers. The distillery has four stills, two wash stills and two spirit stills. They produce 3,000,000 litres of alcohol a year. House Style: Light, slightly oily, nutty. Restorative.

On the nose are aromas of fresh hay, malty cereal, rich creamy toffee and honeyed heather. A smooth and creamy palate with hints of fruit, malty honeyed spiciness and soft vanilla. A crisp and satisfying finish, with a tingle of cloves.
