OUR BEST SINGLE BARREL OF BOURBON EVER FROM JIM BEAM
As any serious whiskey lover knows, all of the great Kentucky Bourbon stalwarts have the potential to wow us on any given Sunday.
Whether it’s Buffalo Trace, Four Roses, Heaven Hill, Wild Turkey or Jim Beam, the right barrel, positioned in the right part of the rick house, for the right length of time can be pure magic. It depends on a multitude of factors, but there are few moments in our industry as exciting as finding a whiskey at its absolute perfect maturity. Some call it the sweet spot. We call it damn fine Bourbon.
While we actively purchase single casks from each of the aforementioned distilleries, always on the search for something superlative, one particular barrel absolutely blew us away during a tasting earlier this year:
A 9 year old single barrel of Knob Creek bottled at 120 proof that explodes with candy corn sweetness and big, big spice.
While Jim Beam is usually fifth on the list when it comes to the Bourbon geek wishlist, there’s no denying that something has clicked recently with their curation team. The Little Book releases have been top notch. Booker’s has never tasted better. The re-release of Baker’s 7 year is one of our favorites of 2020. And this oh-so-delicious single barrel of Knob Creek is the best Bourbon in the store right now, dollar for dollar.
